Today is brought to you by Thursday (the day, not the band). Now with a surprisingly good mood. :-D

So... today's a little cool and grey outside, but I'm actully in a fairly good mood. I'm tired, don't doubt that, but relatively optimistic. Speaking of the tired thing though, I'm thinking of starting to go to bed earlier. I'm definitely not geting enough sleep. And it's harder to sleep in a lot of days, because the noise from the apartment parkinglot wakes me up. Between the maintenance guys, people going to work, the cars, and whatever large truck decides to come through, it's not easy to keep a good, deep sleep. Plus, I need to actually get up at almost-normal-people hours for work and such. Starting Monday, I have a 9 am class 3 times a week (Religion in Film), so... gotta be up for that.

Today is my last class of "Third World Religious Views". Which turned out to be a lot less about third world religious views, and a lot more just about Nigeria and then African America attitudes toward Christianity. I suppose I shouldn't complain though - I got a 3 credit required religion course done in 3 weeks. :-D And while it was a LOT of reading, it could definitely have been worse. After class today, the professor will give us an exam to do over the weekend, and then we're done. I hope it's not awfully difficult, since it's 80% of our grade. The other 20% is participation, which I think I'm doing pretty well at.

Random question, and I don't mean this to be offensive at all... I work with a girl whose family is originally from the Middle East. She wears a scarf on her head every day, and it's really pretty, white with beading and fringe and such. I want to compliment her on it, but 1) I don't know if it has a special name, 2) I don't know if that's appropriate or not. She's really nice, and we talk a lot, so I doubt she'd get super angry or anything, but I don't want it to be awkward... Opinions?

Moving on! This past Friday, I went to an Empires show at the Bottom Lounge. Yes, everyone immature can laugh at the place called the "Bottom Lounge", it's okay. :-D Anyhoo, they were headlining, so we got 3 opening bands. I'd already seen A Company of Thieves before, and they're quite good. They put on a good show. Imagine if Alice from Twilight and Bjork had a girl with blonde hair that grew up to front a band. :-D One of the openers, though, was a band called American Taxi. Which I surprisingly really liked. Enough to buy the two CDs they were selling (they're short CDs - only a few songs each). I've been listening to them *quite* a bit since then, and recommend them. I'm all about supporting musicians, so I urge you to buy their stuff or go see a show if you can, but if you can't and are interested in hearing them, let me know and I'll see what I can do....

Because it has to be said everywhere that's even slightly bandom related, Gerard and Lindsey had their baby. :-D Possibly conceived at DragonCon, and announced to the world by LeVar Burton. ...it doesn't get much geekier than that, does it? :-D A little girl named Bandit Lee Way. When I thought it was a boy, the name was... questionable. Now that I know it's a girl, it's actually sort of awesome (though still weird...). It kind of reminds me of "Scout" from To Kill a Mockingbird, for some reason. And like my parents said, at least it's not spelled weird.

It's cool enough today that maybe I'll actually be able to bring myself to cook something tonight. That'll be nice. :-) I've been grabbing stuff on the go from places, and I'm really getting sick of it. Convenience, yay. Additives and fat and such, boo. I'm glad it's getting more toward summer though. Plentiful, (mostly) inexpensive vegetables. Along those lines, my parents got me a tomato plant! :-D It's on the balcony right now, along with a little pot of garlic chives. The chives are ready to use whenever, but the tomatoes are going to take a while. There's not even flowers on the plant yet. SIGH. :-D

Because I don't have enough on my mind (*rolls eyes*), I've had fleeting thoughts of web comic-y type things. This will most likely never come to fruition, but I offer it as an example of how my brain can't be satisfied with what I'm already doing.

Speaking of what I'm already doing... I need to do my bandom big bang art. *facepalm* I'm pretty sure I know what I'm going to do, I just have to research reference pics and then sit down and do it. That's been my failing with this piece: sitting down to just do it. Now that I don't have any reading to do for my class (though I will have that exam), hopefully I'll be able to concentrate on the art. *nods* I sort of have to, since it's due Monday. :-D I really want to put my name in for pinch hitting if someone else bails out, but I NEED to get my own piece done first. *facepalm again*

Alright. I think I've rambled enough for right now. I'm passing the time at work, so if anyone's around and wants to talk, I'll be here until noon (central time). :-)

I think it's perfectly okay to compliment her on it, since she chose a pretty scarf over a plain one. :)

but if you can't and are interested in hearing them, let me know and I'll see what I can do....

Hee! I'm interested.

I've had fleeting thoughts of web comic-y type things.

I still think you should give it a shot, since it's still on your mind. :)
